The incident occurred on Wednesday evening aboard train SNT4, which was operating on the route from Ho Chi Minh City to Nha Trang under the supervision of train conductor Le Thanh Van.
After the train arrived at Nha Trang Station, attendant To Thi Thanh Tuyen found a black shoulder bag left behind in Carriage No. 7 during a routine inspection.
Tuyen reported the find to the train conductor, and an inspection revealed VND 25 million in cash, two passports and two visa exemption certificates belonging to Bui Van Duong and Bui Allan.
Recognising the importance of the documents and valuables, train staff promptly prepared a report and contacted the owner using information from the electronic ticketing system.
The crew quickly reached Bui Van Duong and informed him that his belongings had been found. The cash and documents were later returned to him.
Vietnam Railways said the loss of passports and visa exemption documents could cause significant inconvenience for travellers, particularly foreign visitors, and praised the train crew for their honesty, professionalism and sense of responsibility.
The company said the actions of the train crew reflected the railway sector's commitment to customer service and helped promote a positive image among passengers and tourists.
