The Southern Regional Hydrometeorological Centre said scattered showers and thunderstorms would continue over the coming days, with moderate to heavy rain possible in some areas, mainly in the afternoon and evening.
Temperatures are forecast to range from 24-27 degrees Celsius at night and 31-34 degrees Celsius during the day.
On June 10, HCM City experienced intermittent sunshine before thunderstorms developed in several areas, including Binh Tien, Tan My and Tan Hung wards, as well as Ho Tram, Xuyen Moc, Hoa Hoi, Bau Lam and Hoa Hiep communes.
Rainfall totals generally ranged from 20 mm to 70 mm, with some locations recording more than 70 mm.
Weather conditions would remain similar over the next few days, with periods of sunshine during the day followed by scattered showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening.
Rainfall is expected to be unevenly distributed, with some areas experiencing heavy downpours over short periods.
From around June 13-14, thunderstorms are forecast to increase in both coverage and intensity across the region.
Meteorologists warned that thunderstorms could be accompanied by lightning, strong winds and hail. Heavy rainfall over short periods may also trigger localised flooding in low-lying areas, affecting transport and daily activities.
