According to initial information, flight VJ1773 from Hanoi to Cam Ranh departed Noi Bai Airport at 10.11 am.

While the aircraft was climbing through approximately 4,700 feet and about 8km from the airport, the flight crew observed a UAV flying in the opposite direction and immediately reported the sighting to air traffic controllers.

Upon receiving the report, Noi Bai Air Traffic Control suspended all departing flights from 10.15 am to ensure flight safety.

At the same time, relevant authorities launched an urgent search and verification operation in the area where the flying object had been detected.

During the disruption, a total of 16 flights were affected.

By 11.13 am, the UAV was no longer observed in the vicinity of the airport. After safety conditions were reassessed, normal flight operations at Noi Bai International Airport resumed.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the origin of the UAV and identify its operator for legal action.

According to leaders of the Northern Airports Authority, incidents involving UAVs, drones and other airborne objects near airports have occurred repeatedly in recent years, posing significant risks to aviation safety.
