According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, scattered showers and thunderstorms occurred overnight and early on June 4 in the northern mountainous region, southern Vietnam and Lam Dong Province, with some areas experiencing heavy rain.
Rainfall recorded between 7 pm on June 3 and 8 am on June 4 exceeded 50mm in several places, including 60mm in Kim Bon, Son La Province, 105mm in U Minh, Ca Mau Province, and 53mm in Bac Ruong, Lam Dong Province.
Forecasters said the northern region is expected to see rain, moderate rain and thunderstorms on the evening and night of June 4, with rainfall generally ranging from 20mm to 40mm. Some areas could see heavy to very heavy rain of more than 130mm.
The meteorological agency warned of intense downpours, with rainfall potentially exceeding 100mm within three hours.

In the Central Highlands and southern Vietnam, scattered showers and thunderstorms are forecast for this afternoon and evening, with rainfall generally at 10mm to 30mm and more than 50mm in some places.
During thunderstorms, residents should be alert to extreme weather such as whirlwinds, lightning, hail and strong gusts.
The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting warned that heavy rain over a short period could trigger flooding in low-lying areas, urban districts and industrial parks, while increasing the risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams and landslides in hilly and steep-slope areas.
Residents are advised to closely monitor forecasts and warnings in order to take preventive measures.
