On May 27, Dantri/DTiNews Newspaper, in coordination with Dak Lak’s Department of Education and Training, presented symbolic support worth VND 621.4 million to Nguyen Ngoc Bao Chau, a fourth-grade pupil at Ly Thuong Kiet Primary School in Phu Xuan Commune.

The donations were raised through the newspaper’s charity programme and transferred to the account of Chau’s father, Nguyen Thanh Tuan, to cover treatment costs.
The family also received more than VND 40 million from organisations, individuals and philanthropists, bringing total support to over VN D660 million.
“Our family never imagined we would one day be able to take our daughter for surgery,” Chau’s mother Nguyen Thi Bich Lieu said emotionally.
Bao Chau suffers from neurofibromatosis, a condition that has caused severe facial deformities and impaired vision in one eye.
After reading about Chau’s situation on Dantri/DTiNews, the University Medical Centre in Ho Chi Minh City contacted the family and offered to support the girl’s initial examination and treatment costs.
The family said they planned to travel to Ho Chi Minh City for Chau’s treatment in the coming days.
Nguyen Xuan Da, deputy director of Dak Lak’s Department of Education and Training, said he was deeply moved by the girl’s determination despite her illness and difficult family circumstances.
“This support not only helps the family afford treatment but also gives them hope and confidence to overcome hardship,” Da noted.
The department also pledged continued educational support to ensure Chau would not fall behind in her studies during treatment.
