Hanoi boosts buses and metro services for national exams

Hanoi authorities will increase bus and metro services during the 2026 high school entrance and graduation exams to accommodate rising travel demand from students, parents and residents.

According to the city’s public transport management centre, the enhanced transport plan will be implemented during the national high school graduation exams from June 10 to 13, including reserve exam days.

The city’s bus network will operate daily from 4.30 am to 10.30 pm, with nearly 17,600 bus trips scheduled each day under normal weekday operations.

Authorities also plan to deploy around 100 additional bus trips and 42 reserve buses across 20 routes to ease pressure at key transport hubs, bus stations, metro interchanges and crowded passenger areas.

Among the routes expected to receive additional services are bus lines 01, 02, 03A, 06A, 16, 20A, 22A, 32 and 54, while VinBus electric routes E01, E02 and E03 will also be reinforced.

Meanwhile, Hanoi’s two urban rail lines Cat Linh-Ha Dong (Line 2A) and Nhon-Hanoi Station (Line 3.1) will operate from 5.30 am to 10 pm throughout the exam period.

Line 2A is expected to run 246 train trips daily, while Line 3.1 will operate 239 trips a day, with train intervals ranging from six to 15 minutes depending on passenger demand.

Transport authorities instructed operators to ensure vehicles remain clean, technically safe and fully operational while minimising service disruptions during the exams.

Metro operators were asked to strengthen fire prevention measures and deploy additional staff at stations and hotlines to support passengers.

Transport schedules and reserve services could be adjusted flexibly depending on actual travel demand during the examination period.
