Ho Chi Minh City Police said on May 22 that criminal proceedings had been launched against Luu Phat Thuan, born in 1991, on charges of infringing industrial property rights.

Authorities inspected Thale Group Co Ltd, where Thuan served as the legal representative, and discovered thousands of counterfeit products imitating well known American and European Union brands.
Investigators said the seized goods included shoes, sandals and socks without invoices or documents proving their origin.

Police alleged that from June 2023 until the operation was uncovered, Thuan had traded counterfeit Nike, Adidas and Converse products through e commerce platforms and social media channels for illegal profit.
According to investigators, Thuan operated Facebook, Instagram and TikTok accounts under the name “Thanhstore” to advertise and sell the counterfeit footwear.
Police said the products were sourced through unofficial online suppliers and e commerce marketplaces without invoices or legal documentation before being resold to customers through online platforms.

Authorities estimated that the operation generated illegal profits of more than VND 3.5 billion (approximately USD 135,000).
Police said the investigation is continuing to identify and prosecute other individuals connected to the case.
