Police seize 7,600 fake branded shoes in Ninh Binh

Police in Ninh Binh Province have uncovered more than 7,600 counterfeit shoes and sandals bearing famous international brands during inspections of two warehouses.

The Investigation Police Agency under Ninh Binh Provincial Police said on May 22 that criminal proceedings had been launched against Tran Cong Tung, born in 1996, and La Van Uoc, born in 1992, on charges of infringing industrial property rights.

Authorities inspected a retail shop and warehouse operated by Tran Cong Tung in Nam Dinh Ward and discovered more than 5,000 pairs of sports shoes and sandals with an estimated value exceeding VND 3.7 billion (approximately USD 142,000).

In a separate inspection of a shop and warehouse owned by La Van Uoc in Yen Mo Commune, officials seized more than 2,600 pairs of shoes valued at over VND 500 million (approximately USD 19,200).

Investigators said all of the seized footwear carried counterfeit labels of well known brands protected under Vietnamese intellectual property laws.

During questioning, the suspects allegedly admitted purchasing counterfeit branded footwear for resale in order to make profits.

Police in Ninh Binh Province said the investigation is continuing to expand.
