Vietnamese firms reward staff with trips to World Cup

Some Vietnamese companies are spending billions of dong to reward outstanding employees with luxury trips to watch the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the US.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will take place in the US, co-hosted by Canada and Mexico, from June 11 to July 19. The tournament will be the largest in history, featuring 48 national teams and a total of 104 matches.

Since early 2026, several Vietnamese travel agencies have launched World Cup tour packages. However, according to Dantri/Dtinews' reporting, demand this year has been slower compared with previous tournaments.

Industry insiders said tighter consumer spending and stricter US visa requirements compared with previous host countries have contributed to the slower sales pace.

Speaking to Dantri/Dtinews, Pham Van Bay from Vietravel said football fans willing to attend the world’s biggest sporting event are still prepared to spend heavily.

According to Bay, many companies are offering World Cup trips as rewards for high-performing employees or department managers. Corporate clients have become one of the three largest customer groups for this year’s tournament tours.

“Prices vary widely, averaging around VND 50 million (approximately USD 1,930). However, some companies are spending billions of dong rewarding employees with football trips to the US,” Bay said.

For these corporate groups, travel agencies typically design customised packages including visa support, flights, accommodation and on-site guides.

Visitors follow specially tailored itineraries focused almost entirely on attending matches rather than sightseeing.

“If tourists combine too many attractions and long-distance travel, it affects the time available to follow matches. That is why these clients usually travel on separate programmes lasting around seven days,” Bay added.

The travel company said it has generated more than USD 3.5 million in World Cup tour sales so far.

Vietravel is currently selling “last minute” World Cup experience packages aimed at luxury travellers. These premium products include privileges such as private transfers, VIP lounges, exclusive stadium entrances and stays at ultra-luxury hotels in the US.

The most expensive package is priced at up to VND 1.5 billion (approximately USD 58,000).

At that price, customers receive a three night stay at a renowned five star hotel in New York, luxury airport transfers and chauffeur services throughout the trip, tickets to the World Cup final, personalised concierge assistance for accommodation and transport arrangements, customised itineraries based on personal preferences and invitations to exclusive events.

By this stage, individual tickets for group stage matches priced at around VND 10 million (approximately USD 386) have largely sold out.

Premium packages are now focused on semi-final and final matches, with ticket prices exceeding USD 1,000.
