The explosive was discovered two days earlier when the family of Nguyen Thi Hien, living in Xuan Hong 8 Village, was renovating their garden to prepare for house construction.
While digging, the family uncovered the bomb buried underground and immediately reported the incident to local authorities.
The Nghi Xuan Commune Military Command secured and guarded the area to ensure the safety of nearby residents while awaiting specialised handling.
Military engineering forces later coordinated the removal of the device to a designated firing range in the locality, where it was safely destroyed following standard technical procedures.
According to experts, the bomb was identified as an MK 81-250LBS type explosive measuring more than one metre in length and 19.5cm in diameter, with its detonator still intact.
