The projects include the Phu Cuong 1A and 1B wind power cluster and the Soc Trang 4 Wind Power Plant, with a combined designed capacity of 550 MW.
The Phu Cuong 1A and 1B project, developed by REE Energy Co. Ltd., has a capacity of 200 MW and investment of about VND 9.14 trillion. The project includes a 220-kV substation and is located in Lai Hoa Commune.

Meanwhile, the Soc Trang 4 Wind Power Plant, developed by Soc Trang 1 Energy Investment JSC, has a designed capacity of 350 MW with 56 turbines and total investment of VND14.5 trillion.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, the Vice Chairman of the Can Tho People’s Committee Vuong Quoc Nam said the city had been approved for 56 power projects under Vietnam’s national power development plan for the 2021-2030 period, including gas-fired, biomass, solar, waste-to-energy and wind power projects with combined capacity of more than 9,100 MW.

Of those, 30 are wind power projects with total planned capacity of 2,785 MW, accounting for about 30 per cent of the city’s planned power output.
Authorities said the projects would help expand clean energy supply, support Vietnam’s greenhouse gas reduction commitments and promote green growth and sustainable energy transition in the Mekong Delta.
Once operational, the Soc Trang 4 project is expected to generate about 1.17 billion kWh of electricity annually for the national grid.
