Rangers said the animal had been caught in a metal jaw trap and was rescued shortly after being found.

After removing the trap and assessing its condition, the team found the monkey had suffered only minor injuries and remained capable of normal movement before releasing it back into the forest.

The red-faced monkey is listed in Vietnam’s Red Book and classified as a rare and protected species under government conservation regulations.

Authorities said the rescue highlighted the importance of forest patrols and biodiversity protection efforts at Dong Chau-Khe Nuoc Trong Nature Reserve.
