Authorities recently inspected three bird shops on Nguyen Van Linh Street in Haiphong and discovered nearly 1,000 wild birds allegedly being illegally traded and kept in captivity.

According to investigators, the seized birds are believed to include various species such as red-whiskered bulbuls, sparrows, oriental white-eyes, spotted doves, white-rumped shamas, painted buntings, black mynas, budgerigars, golden orioles, collared laughingthrushes and red-whiskered laughingthrushes.
Officials said three individuals were found to be involved in the illegal trade and captivity of wild birds.
Inspection teams ordered the suspects to immediately stop all illegal activities, while the entire group of 987 birds was sealed and temporarily confiscated for further legal handling.
The Economic Police Division is continuing to coordinate with forest rangers to investigate and process the case in accordance with the law.
