After the break, Vietnam pushed higher up the pitch in search of an equaliser. However, Roland’s side struggled to cope with Australia’s rapid transitions and direct attacking play.

Australia doubled their advantage in the 60th minute when Hassarati broke past Dang Khoa inside the penalty area before finishing past goalkeeper Xuan Hoa.

With a comfortable lead, Australia dominated possession and continued to dictate the tempo, while Vietnam found it difficult to build attacks or create clear opportunities.

The match was effectively settled in the 75th minute when Gerald scored Australia’s third goal with a strike from the centre of the box into the right corner.
