The project, launched on May 15 in coordination with local authorities, will provide homes for 50 households in Tuy An Bac and Dong Xuan communes using donations contributed by Dantri readers nationwide.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Dantri's Editor-in-Chief Pham Tuan Anh expressed sympathy for local residents following the severe human and economic losses caused by storms and flooding in 2025.

According to Pham Tuan Anh, the programme continues Dantri’s long-running humanitarian efforts. In 2021, the newspaper completed 50 similar floating homes in the former Quang Binh Province, now part of Quang Tri, where the project was widely praised for its practical benefits.
“The construction of these 50 floating flood-resistant homes will help local residents improve resilience against natural disasters, particularly during the upcoming rainy season,” he said.
Luong Minh Tung, vice chairman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and secretary of the Dak Lak Youth Union, thanked Dantri and its readers for their support of local communities.

“Today’s support from Dantri readers is not only about flood-resistant homes, but also a source of protection and reassurance for residents whenever storm season arrives,” Tung said.

At the ceremony, Cao Thi Hoa An and Pham Tuan Anh presented a symbolic donation board representing VND 1.75 billion (approximately USD 67,000) contributed by Dantri readers for the project.
Authorities in Dong Xuan contributed an additional VND 100 million (approximately USD 3,850), while Tuy An Bac provided VND 150 million (approximately USD 5,770).

Gifts worth VND 1 million (approximately USD 38) each were also distributed to disadvantaged families affected by flooding at the end of 2025. The support was funded by Buon Kuop Hydropower Company.

Following the ceremony, officials, local residents and project representatives visited several floating homes already under construction.

Workers are racing to complete the homes in time for handover before this year’s rainy and storm season.
