More than 3,700 Hyundai Tucson SUVs recalled in Vietnam

More than 3,700 locally-assembled Hyundai Tucson vehicles have been recalled in Vietnam over a dashboard display malfunction, authorities said.

According to the National Competition Commission, 3,741 Tucson vehicles assembled in Vietnam are affected under a recall programme announced by Hyundai Thanh Cong.

The vehicles were assembled in Vietnam between May 28, 2025 and January 27, 2026.

The South Korean automaker said the affected vehicles could experience problems with the instrument cluster located behind the steering wheel. During operation, the display may unexpectedly restart, causing the screen to temporarily switch off.

The issue was traced to interference affecting the power monitoring integrated circuit, which causes the dashboard’s internal temperature sensor to transmit inaccurate readings and trigger false overheating warnings.

As a result, the vehicle’s power management system automatically restarts the instrument cluster to protect the electrical system.

The malfunction does not directly affect driving performance but may inconvenience drivers who rely on the display for vehicle information, including speed monitoring.

The Tucson model is not equipped with a head-up display, meaning drivers must monitor speed and vehicle status through the dashboard screen.

Hyundai Thanh Cong said it had not recorded any accidents or losses linked to the issue.

Affected owners will be notified by phone, SMS or email, and can also check their vehicle status on the company’s official website.

Inspections and repairs will be carried out free of charge at authorised Hyundai dealerships, with each repair expected to take around 42 minutes.

The last major recall involving the Hyundai Tucson in Vietnam took place in 2021, when more than 23,500 vehicles were recalled to replace fuses and update ABS control software due to a potential fire risk involving the controller system.

The Tucson remains one of Hyundai Thanh Cong’s best-selling models, with 3,145 units sold during the first four months of the year.

However, the C-segment SUV faces intense competition in Vietnam from rivals including the Mazda CX-5, Ford Territory and Mitsubishi Destinator.
