On May 7, Dantri/Dtinews reporters and Nguyen Hong Cuong, chairman of the Hoanh Son Ward People’s Committee in Ha Tinh Province, visited and presented a symbolic donation board worth VND 280.6 million (approximately USD 10,800) to 19-year-old Nguyen Anh Tuan and his three younger siblings.
The amount was donated by readers through Dantri’s charity programme and had previously been transferred to Tuan’s bank account.
The siblings also received an additional VND 20 million (approximately USD 770) from the Thien Tam Foundation, bringing the total support they have received to more than VND 300 million (approximately USD 11,570).

Tuan’s father, Nguyen Van Chuong, born in 1982, died in a fishing accident at sea in 2021.
His mother, Tran Thi Khang, also born in 1982, died in a traffic accident in March this year along with her husband’s younger sister.
Tuan is now caring for his three younger brothers: Nguyen Tran Anh Vu, 17, Nguyen Thien Bao, 12, and Nguyen Anh Truong, six.
After receiving news of Khang’s death, local authorities visited the family, offered support and helped cover funeral expenses.
The ward administration also called on social organisations and the community to assist the orphaned children.
Previously, Dantri reporters coordinated with local authorities to help Tuan deposit the donated money into a savings account to generate regular interest income and ensure long-term financial security.
On behalf of the local government, Nguyen Hong Cuong thanked Dantri and its readers, as well as benefactors, for supporting the children.
“We hope the newspaper will continue accompanying social welfare activities in the locality and connecting support for disadvantaged families in the future,” Cuong said.
