Vice Chairman of the Danang People’s Committee Tran Chi Cuong on Thursday signed a plan to examine compliance with regulations on hydropower safety, including dam and reservoir safety assessments conducted by project owners.
The city’s Department of Industry and Trade will lead the inspections and coordinate with relevant agencies to establish inspection teams and schedules for each project.

The projects are divided into two groups, including eight hydropower plants that are under construction or not yet operational, such as Tra Linh 1, Tak Le, Tra Leng 2, A Vuong 5 and Song Bung 3A.
Inspectors will review construction quality management, investment and construction procedures, as well as electrical and hydropower safety measures at these projects during May.
The remaining 26 operational hydropower plants, including Song Bung 4, Dak Mi 4, Song Tranh 2 and A Vuong, will undergo inspections covering electrical safety, hydropower facility protection and dam and reservoir safety assessments. These checks are scheduled from May to August.
According to official data, Danang is home to 44 hydropower projects with a combined designed capacity of about 1,784 megawatts and average annual output exceeding 6.1 billion kilowatt-hours.
