The project is operated by Phuong Hoang Phuong Dong JSC and aims to diversify Hue’s river-based tourism offerings while promoting environmentally friendly travel.
The tours use electric-powered boats that operate without emissions and with minimal noise, offering a quieter sightseeing experience suited to the former imperial city’s tranquil atmosphere.

A highlight of the route is the stretch along the Ngu Ha River, historically part of Hue’s imperial defensive and landscape system.
According to the operator, daytime tours last about 90 minutes and run from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., while evening tours operate from 7 pm to 9 pm on a shorter 60-minute route from Toa Kham wharf to Nguyen Hoang Bridge.
Phan Viet Trung, director of Phuong Hoang Phuong Dong JSC, said the tours were designed around green tourism principles, including limiting plastic waste and single-use products to help protect the river ecosystem.
“We are targeting small groups, families travelling across Vietnam and international visitors,” Trung said.
“Many tourists now travel in family groups or small foreign tour groups of around 15 to 20 people. We want to connect heritage sites along the journey and provide a more immersive sightseeing experience,” he added.
