At the summit, the Vietnamese prime minister is expected to deliver speeches outlining the country’s foreign policy direction and perspectives on ASEAN priorities. He will also propose measures to strengthen the ASEAN Community building process and discuss regional and international issues of mutual concern.
On the sidelines, he is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with leaders of other member states to promote cooperation.
The summit will bring together leaders of ASEAN countries and the ASEAN Secretary General. It is one of two regular high level meetings held annually by ASEAN leaders in 2026.
As ASEAN Chair, Philippines has outlined three key priorities: reinforcing the foundations of peace and security, expanding pathways to shared prosperity and empowering people across the region.
The host nation has proposed that discussions focus on energy security, food security and the protection of ASEAN citizens. It also reaffirmed its commitment to advancing regional connectivity, strengthening resilience and autonomy, and maintaining ASEAN’s central role, while sustaining momentum toward the ASEAN Community Vision 2045.
