During the visit, Prime Minister Takaichi paid tribute at the Mausoleum of President Ho Chi Minh and laid a wreath at the Monument to Heroic Martyrs in Hanoi.
She held meetings with senior Vietnamese leaders, including Party General Secretary and State President To Lam, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man.

Prime Minister Takaichi and Prime Minister Le Minh Hung held official talks and later briefed the media on the outcomes of their discussions.
In the presence of the two prime ministers, ministries, agencies and local authorities from both countries exchanged six co-operation agreements.
Vietnamese officials said the visit took place at an important time as both countries pursue socio-economic development goals under new leadership.

The two sides reviewed progress in bilateral co-operation and discussed expanding ties across trade, investment, diplomacy, security, defence, digital transformation, green transition, science, technology and innovation.
Prime Minister Takaichi said Japan wished to work closely with Vietnam in implementing its Free and Open Indo-Pacific vision and reaffirmed Tokyo’s continued support for Vietnam’s development priorities.

Both sides agreed to further strengthen economic co-operation as a key pillar of bilateral ties through trade, investment and official development assistance, with a focus on enhancing economic resilience, energy security and sustainable agriculture.
They also agreed on measures aimed at raising annual Japanese investment in Vietnam to USD 5 billion and bilateral trade to USD 60 billion by 2030.
As part of the visit, Prime Minister Takaichi delivered a policy speech at Vietnam National University in Hanoi, where she outlined updates to Japan’s Free and Open Indo-Pacific initiative and its approach to future co-operation with Vietnam.
Separately, Japan awarded the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun to former Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh and former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.
