The 73.2-km Hau Giang-Ca Mau section, part of the eastern North-South Expressway project, resumed operations at 11.30 am, according to the My Thuan Project Management Board under the Ministry of Construction.
Its reopening completes the 110.85-kilometre Can Tho-Ca Mau Expressway, linking the southern hub of Can Tho with the southernmost province of Ca Mau.

Authorities said the route would improve travel and freight movement across the Mekong Delta while strengthening links between key economic centres, industrial zones and seaports in the southwest.
The Hau Giang-Ca Mau section cost more than VND 17.15 trillion (USD 652 million), while the Can Tho-Hau Giang segment required more than VND 10.37 trillion, bringing total investment in the corridor to VND 27.52 trillion.
The expressway has been built to four-lane standards in its initial phase, with a roadbed width of 17 metres and plans for future expansion to 24.75 metres.
Vehicles on the route will be subject to a maximum speed of 80 kph and a minimum speed of 60 kph.
Motorbikes, rudimentary vehicles, pedestrians and other vehicles unable to meet the minimum speed requirement are prohibited from using the expressway.
Authorities said the route has been equipped with electronic toll collection and intelligent transport systems.
The full opening of the Can Tho-Ca Mau Expressway forms part of Vietnam’s broader target to complete 3,000 kilometres of expressways nationwide.
