Under the revised schedule, the pedestrian zone around Hoan Kiem Lake and surrounding streets will operate continuously from 7 am on April 30 until midnight on May 3.
The adjustment is intended to mark the 50th anniversary of Reunification Day (April 30) and May Day, while meeting increased leisure demand during the extended holiday, local authorities said.
Pedestrian streets in Hanoi’s Old Quarter will maintain their regular weekend schedule on the evenings of May 1-3.
Authorities have instructed relevant agencies to ensure security, traffic safety, environmental sanitation and fire prevention throughout the holiday period.
