The city’s People’s Committee on April 23 approved a proposal from the Department of Construction to offer free travel across 128 subsidised bus routes and two metro lines Cat Linh-Ha Dong (Line 2A) and the elevated section of Nhon-Hanoi Station (Line 3.1).

The policy will be implemented in two phases April 25-27 (Hung Kings’ holiday) and April 30-May 3.
All passengers will be eligible. Bus users will receive single-trip paper or electronic tickets at no cost, while metro passengers will be issued zero-fare tickets at stations or via Hanoi Metro apps.
Priority groups, including the elderly and monthly pass holders, must continue to present valid documentation in line with current regulations.
City authorities said the measure aims to ease travel, support tourism and shopping, cut congestion and environmental pressure, and promote a more modern, sustainable capital.
The Department of Construction will coordinate with transport operators to ensure safe, efficient services, alongside public awareness and traffic management at bus stops and metro stations.
