Dantri/Dtinews Newspaper, in coordination with authorities in Thuan My Commune, Tay Ninh Province, held a ceremony to present the houses to Do Cao Thang, Vo Khac Phong and Tong Thi Oi on April 21.

All three recipients had lived in severe hardship for years. Oi’s house had been in disrepair and was destroyed by a whirlwind in late 2025, forcing her to stay with relatives. The homes of Phong and Thang, built from wood with metal sheets and palm leaves, had seriously deteriorated and were at risk of collapse.
After Dantri published articles highlighting their situations, readers donated more than VND 88 million (approximately USD 3,450) to Thang, over VND 81 million (approximately USD 3,180) to Phong and more than VND 104 million (approximately USD 4,080) to Oi.
Using the funds, all three families rebuilt their homes, which have now been completed.
Phong said his previous house was unstable and unsafe during heavy rain. “I never imagined I could have a solid home like this. It feels like a dream. I am deeply grateful to the donors,” he said.

Thang said the new house had significantly improved his quality of life. “I used to live in a temporary shelter on bare ground in the fields. Thanks to the support, I now have a proper home. I am very thankful,” he said.

Oi also expressed relief at no longer having to rely on others for accommodation, saying the new home allows her to live securely in her later years.
Nguyen Thanh Hieu, chairman of Thuan My Commune, thanked Dantri and donors for supporting local efforts to assist vulnerable residents.

The initiative forms part of a broader campaign to eliminate temporary and dilapidated housing. Dantri has set a target of building 200 charity homes nationwide during 2024 and 2025.
Since April 2024, the outlet has launched construction of 255 homes, completing 229. In addition, it has built 58 classrooms, 32 rural bridges and roads, and 50 flood resistant floating houses, while organising 28 free medical programmes benefiting more than 6,000 people. It has also provided 7,210 health insurance cards to disadvantaged students and launched nearly 6,000 fundraising campaigns to support vulnerable families.
