Over 10,000 join Vietnam National Health Day 2026 in Hanoi

More than 10,000 people joined Vietnam National Health Day 2026 in Hanoi on April 5, promoting preventive healthcare through mass participation and community based medical services.

Held across Tran Nhan Tong pedestrian street and Thong Nhat Park, the large-scale event featured a launch ceremony and a mass walk encouraging healthier lifestyles.

The programme was organised by the department of preventive medicine and the medical services administration under the ministry of health, in collaboration with the Vietnam young physicians association. It carried the message “proactive prevention, for a healthier Vietnam”, in response to World Health Day on April 7.

A key highlight was the community walk, which encouraged regular physical activity to reduce the risk of non communicable diseases such as cardiovascular conditions, diabetes and obesity. The route in central Hanoi was designed for all age groups, with traffic control and on site medical support ensuring safety

Alongside the walk, a health fair provided free consultations and screenings to around 5,000 residents from 7 am to 4 pm. Participants underwent blood pressure checks, body index assessments, blood tests and specialised consultations through a streamlined process.

Leading central hospitals took part, including Bach Mai Hospital, Viet Duc University Hospital, the National Cancer Hospital, the National Hospital of Endocrinology, the Vietnam National Children's Hospital, and the National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology, ensuring high quality services.

Modern technologies such as biochemical testing, ultrasound, electrocardiograms, X-ray diagnostics and ai assisted screening were also applied to support early detection and improve consultation outcomes.

OPC Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company, a Vietnamese manufacturer with more than 46 years of experience in herbal medicine, introduced an “energy recovery station” at the event. The open space allowed participants to rest after activities, offering massage therapy, product trials and interactive games.

Visitors could explore herbal based products including golden star balm, herbal inhalers and eucalyptus essential oil. The initiative aimed to support recovery while promoting everyday preventive healthcare practices.

An OPC representative said participation in the event reflected the company’s commitment to community health and its goal of delivering accessible preventive solutions.

Organisers said the event forms part of broader efforts to raise public awareness and encourage healthier lifestyles. With participation from government agencies, healthcare institutions and businesses, it highlights a growing shift towards integrated, community based healthcare in Vietnam.

Given its scale and impact, Vietnam National Health Day is expected to become an annual event, contributing to a more proactive and healthier society.
