The city’s People’s Committee has approved a plan to convert community funded lighting into standardised public systems across 11 wards, including Tan Son Hoa, Tan Son Nhat, Tan Hoa, Bay Hien, Tan Binh, Tan Son, Gia Dinh, Binh Thanh, Binh Loi Trung, Thanh My Tay and Binh Quoi.

The project will cover around 64.3 kilometres of alleys, upgrading lighting to technical standards, aligning it with the public network and improving neighbourhood infrastructure.

Authorities said the upgrade will enhance living conditions, road safety and public security, while reducing fire and electrical risks. LED systems are also expected to lower energy consumption and support more sustainable urban operations.

The project will run from 2026 to 2028 using the city budget. The department of finance will oversee capital allocation, while the department of construction will monitor implementation and compliance. The investor will be responsible for delivering the project in line with approved plans.
