British tourist’s organ donation saves three lives in Vietnam

The family of a 19-year-old British tourist has donated her organs in Vietnam, helping save three patients in need of transplants.

According to the Hanoi-based Viet Duc University Hospital, the teenager was recently hospitalised during her trip, but despite intensive treatment, her condition did not improve. A medical board later confirmed she had suffered brain death.

Her family decided to donate her organs, setting aside differences of nationality and background to offer hope to patients with end-stage organ failure.

Her parents said Vietnam was a place their daughter deeply loved, and that the donation was a meaningful way to give back after she spent her final days in the country.

Her father said the family wanted to contribute something to Vietnam following their daughter’s time there.

Her mother expressed gratitude to medical staff who cared for her daughter, adding that she believed the teenager had cherished every moment of her stay in Vietnam.

Three patients have since received transplants from the donated organs, the hospital said, turning a tragic journey into a life-saving gift for others.
