Authorities in Gia Lai Province have rescued a woman who had been lost for more than 10 days in a remote forest after a nearly four-hour operation through complex terrain.
The rescue was confirmed by officials from Binh Phu Commune on April 1 after the woman was found in a mountainous forest area.
Earlier, a video circulating on social media showed local authorities locating and rescuing the woman, who appeared disoriented after spending an extended period alone in the forest.
Initial reports said that on March 24, Binh Phu Commune police received information about a woman exhibiting unusual behaviour and lost deep in the forest in Phu My Hamlet. The area is characterised by rugged mountains, dense vegetation and isolated paths, making access difficult.
Authorities later identified the woman as a 50-year-old resident of neighbouring Binh An Commune. Her family said she had left home more than 10 days earlier, and previous search efforts had failed.
Police in Binh Phu Commune mobilised forces and coordinated with the local health station to launch an emergency rescue operation. After several hours trekking through the forest, the team reached the woman.
She was found severely exhausted, disoriented and unable to move independently. Officers took turns carrying her in a hammock while navigating hazardous terrain and offering reassurance.
After nearly four hours, the rescue team brought her safely out of the forest and handed her over to her family for further care.
