According to the Hanoi Centre for Disease Control, the previous week saw only three cases, while six were reported between March 6 and 13. Earlier in January 2026, the capital recorded three infections.
Since the beginning of 2026, Hanoi has reported a total of 29 cases across 22 wards and communes, with no fatalities. The figure is higher than the same period in 2025, when only five cases were recorded.
Health authorities also noted the circulation of the BA.3.2 subvariant, advising the public not to panic but to remain cautious.
During the same period, the city reported 233 cases of hand, foot and mouth disease, along with two outbreaks in schools, raising concerns over the simultaneous spread of multiple infectious diseases.
Authorities have urged residents to maintain preventive measures, including wearing masks in healthcare facilities, crowded places or enclosed spaces. Individuals with symptoms such as cough, fever or respiratory illness are advised to wear masks and limit contact with others.
People are also encouraged to monitor their health closely and seek medical attention promptly if severe symptoms such as high fever, breathing difficulties or chest pain occur.
Health experts emphasised that SARS-CoV-2 continues to circulate and may evolve into new variants over time, making sustained vigilance and preventive measures essential, particularly in high-risk settings such as schools and healthcare facilities.
