Police in Vinh Hoi Ward said on March 28 they received a report around midnight from Dao Khanh Hong, 66, who had left the bag in a taxi near a residential building on Ton That Thuyet Street.

The bag contained about VND20 million in cash, nine taels of gold, a pair of diamond earrings, a VND300 million savings book and personal documents.

Officers reviewed security camera footage and worked with witnesses to trace the vehicle and its route. By about 8 am, they identified the driver, Nguyen Van Trong, 36, who handed over the belongings at a police station.

All items were returned to the owner, who expressed gratitude to the driver and police.

Authorities urged the public to check their belongings when travelling and to contact the nearest police station promptly if items are lost.
