According to a survey cited by Government News and released at the Global Tourism Fair 2026, Vietnam is one of the most sought-after Asian destinations for visitors from France.
The survey, conducted in November 2025 with nearly 900 respondents in the Île-de-France region, found that 98 per cent of participants plan to travel in 2026. Of these, 73 per cent intend to travel abroad, with nearly half taking international trips at least twice a year.
Europe remains the top choice, with 38 per cent of travellers favouring destinations within the region due to proximity and well-developed transport networks.
However, Asia is gaining popularity, accounting for 28 per cent of travel preferences, the highest level since the survey was first conducted in 2019.
Among the most searched destinations, Vietnam appears alongside countries such as Japan and Thailand, as well as European tourism hotspots including Italy and Spain.
The trend reflects a growing willingness among French travellers to explore long-haul destinations in search of new experiences.
Vietnam is seen as a standout destination in the region thanks to its rich cultural heritage, distinctive cuisine and diverse natural landscapes.
These strengths align closely with the rising preference for experiential travel among French tourists.
The Global Tourism Fair 2026 took place from March 12 to 15 at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles in Paris.
