The beach rescue unit, under the Nha Trang Bay Management Board in Khanh Hoa Province, said on March 18 the tourist was pulled to safety after being carried away by strong waves.

The incident was spotted during a routine patrol, when rescuers saw the victim struggling in rough waters some distance from shore. The team quickly intervened and brought the person safely back to land.
Since the start of 2026, the unit has rescued dozens of people, including both locals and visitors, caught in strong waves while swimming.
Rescue officials said recent unusual weather has generated waves of 2-3 metres, increasing the risk of swimmers being swept away, particularly in areas with dangerous rip currents.
Despite warning signs and advisories against swimming in rough conditions, some beachgoers continue to ignore safety guidance.
Authorities said rescue teams remain on high alert, stepping up patrols and urging people to stay out of the water during periods of strong waves and high winds to prevent accidents.
