According to the Khanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the first flight from Phu Quoc International Airport landed at Cam Ranh International Airport at 3.45 pm on March 15. From Cam Ranh Airport, passengers travel more than 30 kilometres north by road to reach the wards of Nha Trang.
The route will operate four weekly flights on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. The flight time for the sector is approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes.
According to the provincial tourism authority, although both destinations are among Vietnam’s most well-known coastal tourism hubs, Nha Trang and Phu Quoc previously lacked a direct air connection. Travellers between the two locations typically had to transit through Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City.
The new route is expected to strengthen links between the south-central coast and the Mekong Delta, facilitating two-way passenger flows and improving international visitors’ access to both destinations. Direct flights may also allow tourism businesses to develop multi-destination travel products and itineraries.
In 2025, Khanh Hoa Province welcomed more than 16.4 million visitors, up over 14 per cent year on year, including 5.5 million international arrivals.
Phu Quoc received more than 8.1 million visitors, including over 1.8 million international tourists, generating tourism revenue of nearly VND 44 trillion (about USD 1.73 billion).
