The incident temporarily disrupted the North-South railway through Hai Van Pass

According to Vietnam Railways, train operations were modified from 6 pm on March 15, shortly after the incident on the railway line running through the Hai Van Pass area.

Heritage trains HD1/2 and HD3/4 and passenger train SE18 were suspended on March 16, while train SE27 from Hanoi was halted at Hue Station.

Meanwhile, the Danang-Lang Co sections of trains SE20 and SE18 departing Danang on March 15 were cancelled.

To assist passengers, the railway operator arranged road transfers between Danang and Lang Co for several services, including SE8, SE6, SE10, SE4, SE2, SE20 and SE18, as well as northbound trains SE7, SE5, SE9, SE3, SE1 and SE19.

Passengers holding tickets on trains SE7, SE5, SE9, SE3 and SE1 departing Hanoi, and SE8, SE6, SE10, SE4 and SE2 from Ho Chi Minh City on March 15 for destinations between Danang and the opposite terminus may receive full refunds at stations without any service fees.

Two rockfalls struck the North-South railway through Hai Van Pass on March 14. The first occurred at around 8 am at kilometre marker 768+875, bending and breaking the tracks and derailing freight train AH1 hauled by locomotive D18E-604.

Additional rocks fell at the same location later that evening, posing further safety risks to railway operations.
