Planned facilities include a 1,500 MW power plant, an LNG storage terminal with tanks of about 250,000 cubic metres, regasification systems, a dedicated port and supporting technical infrastructure.

The plant will require around 1.15 million tonnes of LNG annually. Investors include a consortium of PetroVietnam Power Corporation, Nghe An Sugar Company and South Korea’s SK Innovation Co., Ltd.

The project aims to generate electricity using liquefied natural gas in line with Vietnam’s national energy development plan approved by the prime minister, helping ensure stable power supply for the national grid and meet rising energy demand.

The plant is also expected to meet environmental standards, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and support economic growth while increasing the share of industry in Nghe An’s economy.

The project is scheduled to be implemented between 2025 and 2030.
