The Tay Ninh Province Military Command said on March 11 that its sapper unit had collected and disposed of several pieces of unexploded ordnance found across the province.
Earlier, on March 9, resident Vo Thanh Trung was preparing land for fruit tree cultivation in Bong Trang Hamlet, Thanh Duc Commune, Tay Ninh Province.
While digging to a depth of nearly one metre, he uncovered a large metal object resembling a bomb and immediately reported it to authorities.
After inspection, military engineers identified the device as an MK-81 bomb weighing about 113 kilogrammes, believed to be a wartime remnant.
Although it had been buried for decades, the bomb’s fuse remained intact, posing a significant danger if disturbed.
Sapper units later safely removed the device for disposal.
At the same time, military engineers conducted wider searches in several communes including Hung Thuan, Truong Mit, and the wards of Ninh Thanh, An Tinh, and Binh Minh.

During these sweeps, authorities recovered multiple explosive devices including 12 artillery shells of 105mm calibre, one 155mm artillery shell, 10 mortar rounds of 60mm calibre, one 82mm mortar round, two B40 warheads and three hand grenades.
All recovered ordnance was transported to a specialised area for controlled detonation under strict technical procedures to ensure safety.
