Readers of Dantri Newspaper and charitable donors have joined hands to support the family of Pham Thanh Hoai in Ha Tinh Province with more than VND 194 million.
The 44-year-old recently lost his 40-year-old wife after she struggled with a severe brain illness. Hoai is also battling multiple health conditions, including severe hepatitis, stomach disease and thyroid problems, leaving him in fragile health while caring for his two sons, Pham Tuan Hung, 17, and Pham Tuan Thinh, 7.

After Dantri published a report about the family’s situation, many readers sent donations totalling VND 164.7 million (about USD 6,470). Vingroup also contributed an additional VND 30 million (about USD 1,180).
The family has therefore received more than VND 194 million (about USD 7,630) in total support so far.

Speaking to reporters, Hoai said he was deeply moved by the assistance.
“My wife sadly developed a serious illness. Despite the doctors’ dedicated efforts to save her, she did not survive. I am also suffering from several illnesses and my health has deteriorated,” he said.
“Throughout the time my wife was receiving treatment and after she passed away, our family received a great deal of care and support. In particular, readers of Dantri offered encouragement and a very significant amount of financial help.
“We are grateful to the newspaper for connecting us with donors, and we sincerely thank its readers and benefactors for standing with us during this difficult time.”
