Earlier, Tran Thanh Kiet found a reptile identified as a South American iguana near his house. After researching the animal, he learned that it is an invasive species that could threaten the natural ecosystem if released into the wild.

The reptile belongs to the species Iguana. Concerned about potential environmental impacts, Kiet captured the animal and brought it to the local police station for proper handling.
Authorities later took custody of the reptile and will coordinate with relevant agencies to manage the case.
Police have advised residents that when they encounter unfamiliar or potentially invasive animals, they should not attempt to keep them as pets or release them into the environment. Instead, they should promptly notify local authorities so the animals can be handled safely and appropriately.
