Cold front set to sweep northern Vietnam

A cold air mass is forecast to move into northern Vietnam on Monday evening, bringing rain and cooler temperatures, according to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.

The cold wave is expected to affect the north-eastern region from the night of March 2 before expanding to other northern areas, the north-central region and parts of the central coast.

From late March 2 to March 3, northern and north-central provinces are forecast to experience rain and scattered showers, with isolated thunderstorms. From March 3, temperatures at night and in the early morning are set to fall, with colder conditions likely in the north-eastern mountains.

Minimum temperatures are expected to range between 15 and 18 degrees Celsius in the north and north-central region, dropping below 14 degrees in mountainous areas.

In Hanoi, rain and scattered showers are forecast from the night of March 2 to March 3, with cooler weather from March 3. Lows during this cold spell are expected at 16-18 degrees Celsius.

From March 3, parts of the central region may also see scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms.
