The victim, 40, and from the northern province of Phu Tho, was swept away by waves at around 6.50 pm on February 28 while swimming with three friends off Nhat Le Beach in Dong Hoi Ward.
Upon receiving the report, the Nhat Le Border Guard Station under the Quang Tri Border Guard Command deployed personnel to coordinate search operations overnight. Fishing vessels operating in the area were also alerted to assist.
As of 8.30 am on March 1, the missing man had not been found.
