The Vung Tau-Con Dao high-speed ferry has resumed operations after a five-month hiatus, with the operator cutting ticket prices to attract passengers.

Services restarted on February 26, marking the revival of a key maritime route linking the mainland near Ho Chi Minh City with the special administrative zone of Con Dao.

More than 500 passengers were on board the first departing vessel, signalling renewed demand for the route after its suspension in September 2025.

To mark the relaunch, the operating company announced a promotional programme running from March 15 to July 12.

Adult weekday fares have been reduced from VND 790,000 (USD 30.40) to VND 590,000 (USD 22.70), while weekend tickets have fallen from VND 950,000 (USD 36.50) to VND 690,000 (USD 26.50). Ticket prices for children, older passengers, people with disabilities and VIP services have also been cut by between VND 160,000 (USD 6.15) and VND 210,000 (USD 8.08) per ticket.

The Thang Long express ferry can carry up to 1,107 passengers and completes the journey in about three hours and 30 minutes.

Departures leave Vung Tau at 7.30 am and Con Dao at 1 pm.
