HCM City museums remain open over Tet

Several museums in Ho Chi Minh City will remain open during the Lunar New Year or Tet holiday, broadening cultural offerings for visitors in the opening days of 2026.

The War Remnants Museum will remain open throughout Tet and, from February 11, has launched online ticketing, allowing visitors to book time slots and pay via its website. A QR code is sent by email for entry, removing the need to queue.

Museum representatives said the e-ticket system helps reduce congestion during peak hours and allows visitors to access exhibition details, maps and guidelines in advance. The platform is also expected to streamline procedures and improve convenience and safety.

In 2025, the War Remnants Museum welcomed more than 1.4 million visitors, ranking among the city’s most popular attractions and featuring prominently in travel listings, including the Travellers’ Choice awards.

Meanwhile, the Ho Chi Minh City Museum will close on February 16 (the 29th day of the lunar month) for holiday preparations and reopen on February 17, the first day of Tet, from 8 am to 5 pm daily.

The Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts will follow the same schedule, while the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of History will maintain its planned Tet opening hours.

Experts said keeping museums open and accelerating digital transformation during Tet not only meets rising demand for cultural experiences but also strengthens the role of museums as key cultural institutions in contemporary urban life.
