According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the cold front will first affect northern mountainous and midland areas before spreading across the wider north and parts of central Vietnam, with some mountainous regions expected to face severe cold.

Temperatures in northern Vietnam are forecast to fall to 10-13 degrees Celsius, dropping to 7-10 degrees in mountainous areas and below 3 degrees in higher elevations. In the north-central region, temperatures are expected to range from 12-15 degrees.
Meteorologists warned that high mountain areas in the north could see frost and snowfall during the day and night of February 8.
In Hanoi, rain and severe cold are forecast for February 7-8, with temperatures falling to around 10-12 degrees Celsius.
Cold air is also expected to bring rain from the night of February 7 through February 9 to areas stretching from Ha Tinh to Danang and parts of central provinces from Quang Ngai to Gia Lai, with localised heavy downpours and thunderstorms, forecasters said.
