The city’s Department of Construction said the first phase of Ly Thai To Memorial Park, located in Vuon Lai Ward, is nearing completion and will be put into operation before February 10.

According to the project sponsor, Vung Tau Urban Investment and Development Co Ltd, the park’s main components have largely been completed, with remaining works scheduled to finish by February 8.

The inauguration ceremony is expected to welcome about 300 guests, including central and city leaders, and will feature speeches, an opening ritual and a lantern floating ceremony in remembrance of Covid-19 victims.

Authorities said opening the memorial park on schedule carries significant social and political importance, ensuring both construction quality and the site’s commemorative value.

Earlier this week, workers installed a tear shaped sculpture at the centre of the park, which will serve as its focal point.
