Tens of thousands of people gathered at My Dinh Stadium and surrounding areas to watch the display, which ended the evening-long performance marking the congress.

More than two hours before the fireworks began, large crowds had already assembled at CV1 park in Cau Giay ward, searching for the best vantage points.

At 8 pm, the cultural programme officially opened as the first volleys of fireworks burst into the sky, creating a festive atmosphere across the capital.

From CV1 Park, spectators watched high-altitude fireworks bloom brightly against the night sky over Hanoi.

Similar scenes unfolded near the Hanoi Children’s Palace and along nearby streets, where continuous waves of fireworks illuminated the area.

Luc Thi Hieu, 18, from Cau Giay Ward, said she arrived at CV1 park at 5.30 pm to secure a good viewing spot. “Seeing such a large-scale fireworks display in person for the first time was overwhelming. The light effects are far more vivid and impressive than on a screen,” she said.

Vu Thuy Duong, from Duong Noi ward, also shared her excitement. “Even though it was cold, the anticipation of watching the fireworks drew me out with friends. I was very happy to witness such a spectacular display,” she said.

Organisers described it as the largest artistic fireworks show ever held in Hanoi, carrying strong political and social significance. The event not only celebrated the 14th National Party Congress but also looked ahead to the 96th anniversary of the founding of the Communist party of Vietnam on February 3.

The 15-minute high-altitude fireworks display, featuring nearly 10,000 shells of various types, brought the special cultural programme to a close.
