Gia Lai seeks investors for wind power projects

Vietnam’s Central Highlands province of Gia Lai is seeking investors for three large-scale wind power projects with a combined investment of more than VND 19 trillion (USD 720 million).

According to the provincial Investment Promotion Centre, the projects comprise the Van Canh 1, Van Canh 2 and Vinh Thuan wind power plants.

The 56-hectare Van Canh 1 wind farm in Canh Lien Commune will have a capacity of 160 MW and produce about 502 million kWh a year. Total investment is estimated at more than VND 6.9 trillion, including nearly VND 24 billion for compensation and resettlement, with construction expected to take three years.

Van Canh 2, located in Canh Lien and Van Canh communes, will span about 62 hectares, have a capacity of 180 MW and generate an estimated 623 million kWh a year. Investment is estimated at more than VND 7.77 trillion, including about VND 27 billion for compensation and resettlement.

Saigon-Bac Giang Industrial Park JSC has expressed interest in the two Van Canh projects.

The Vinh Thuan wind farm in Vinh Quang Commune will span about 50 hectares, with a capacity of 143 MW and annual output of around 240 million kWh. Investment is estimated at nearly VND 4.7 trillion, with Vinenergo Energy JSC approved as the investor.

Gia Lai authorities said the projects are expected to attract major investors while contributing to renewable energy development, energy security and green, sustainable growth in the province and the wider region.
