At least four people died and six others were injured after three vehicles collided on the Phap Van - Cao Bo - Mai Son - National Highway 45 - Nghi Son expressway.
A representative of the Traffic Police Department said the crash occurred at about 3.40 am on the Thanh Hoa to Hanoi direction of the expressway, in Dong Tien Commune, Thanh Hoa Province.
Two tractor-trailers and a 15-seat passenger vehicle carrying 11 people were involved in a severe collision. Four people were killed at the scene, while six others were injured, including four with minor injuries and two seriously hurt.
The crash caused prolonged congestion along the route.
According to a representative of the Vietnam Expressway Operation and Maintenance Joint Stock Company, authorities have closed access for vehicles at the Van Thien interchange in the Nghe An to Hanoi direction.
The incident is being handled jointly by Thanh Hoa Provincial Police Department and the Traffic Police Department.
