The proposed site covers about 1,000 hectares and lies within the core zone of the UNESCO global geopark Non Nuoc Cao Bang, as well as the Cao Bang border-gate economic zone.
Under the concept plan, functional zones would be seamlessly connected, making use of the area’s dramatic natural landscapes, the cultural identity of local ethnic groups and its strategic border location with China.
The project aims to balance nature conservation with the promotion of indigenous cultural values, in line with the roadmap for implementing the bilateral agreement on the protection and joint development of tourism resources at Ban Gioc Falls in Vietnam and Detian Falls in China.
Sun Group estimates the project could attract about 1.5 million visitors a year once expressway access is expanded, with annual arrivals expected to reach four million after five years, creating a strong boost for local socio-economic development.
At the meeting, Phan Thang An, party secretary of Cao Bang, said the province highly valued the proposal and hoped it would become a landmark project, helping position Cao Bang on the international tourism map rather than serving only domestic visitors.
