According to authorities of Hoa Lu Ward, the entire market structure had been cleared and the site handed over to the contractor’s Nam Song Van irrigation project.
Following the demolition, the remaining land will be used to set up a temporary market to allow affected traders to continue operating.

The Hoa Lu Market Management Board has been tasked with arranging stalls so traders can resume business by January 28, 2026. They will later be relocated to San Nhi Market in the former Phuc Thanh Ward, once construction there is completed.
The demolition follows approval from the Ninh Binh authorities, acting on proposals from the Department of Finance and the former Hoa Lu City administration. Compensation and support plans were completed, publicly disclosed and implemented before the clearance began.

As many as 202 households were directly affected, including kiosk operators, clothing and footwear sellers, fresh produce vendors and traders of household goods. Compensation and support plans were completed, publicly disclosed and implemented before the demolition began.
Located in the former centre of Ninh Binh City, Dragon Market was a grade-II market and one of the province’s largest and most well-known trading hubs. Before its removal, it hosted around 700 traders selling everything from fresh food and groceries to clothing and household items.
Many traders expressed regret at seeing the market dismantled after decades of business, but said they accepted the move in support of efforts to create a cleaner, more modern and better-planned Hoa Lu urban area.
